This is what I love best about Integral Medine. There are so many choices. Don't like the click here from this unit, then just move on to a click that fits for you.
After listening to the relaxation exercise for this unit, I was not able to fully engage. First of all the moving graphics reminded me of my voicemessages from work. I get them through my email program and they look just like the graphics in the exercise. This made it hard to relax since it was Saturday and my day off from work. Secondly, there was an annoying sound within this relaxation exercise. It was like I could only focus on that sound and wait for it to happen again.
I tried to engage my husband (who's hands are always cold) to listen. Although he enjoyed the relaxation part, and was not affected by the graphics or that annoying sound, he was a little let down when he thought that there might possibly have been a remedy for his cold hands.
But, as I said at the beginning. Integral Mediicine allows us to search many different venues in order to find what works for the individual as a whole, not just someone with cold hands.

Yes Deb I agree there was a sound that could be very annoying. I to had a hard time relaxing but I am not sure it was the sound or if I just have a hard time clearing my head. I know I am a person with a mind that never stops not even in my sleep I don't think, and guess what I have a son just like me poor thing. But we do have to realize just because we have a hard time stopping the mind does not mean it can't happen with practice. So I will keep practicing, and as you say there are many things out there to try and see what works best for you. GOD BLESS YOU
ReplyDeleteHi Deb! Jackie gave you the same advice that I have to offer. Relaxation techniques take a bit of practice. I've learned to close my eyes if the graphics are distracting, and with a bit of practice, any annoying sounds can be "tuned out". I pretty much felt the same way you do after my first time; however, I now have greater success with relaxation, and I'm sure after a few more attempts...you will too!!

ReplyDeleteSometimes it's hard for us in our busy lives to actually relax. With music and pictures or without them, some people just don't have it in them. Some people have anxiety and don't know how to relax sometimes. I am one of those people. If my house isn't clean, my kids aren't taken care of properly or the way that I do it, and things are out of place, I can't relax. I feel so much better when my dishes are done. Especially when my kitchen is clean,the dishes are loaded, and all that I hear is the sound of the water rushing through the dishwasher. To me, that is a relaxing sound, because I know that my job is done for the day and night. Hearing my daughters breathe in their sleep, looking at how precious they look while they sleep, that is relaxing to me. These things are relaxing to me, because I know in my mind that my body can relax for the night, my work is done. So, what do I do next? I sit down with a cup of sleepytime tea, sit in my rocking chair, and look around the room at my hard work, and think to myself " I did all of this, and it feels good to have it all accomplished".
