Hi everyone,
Just want to share my experience with "The Crime of the Century" relaxation exercise. I must say that I really benefitted fromthis exercise much better than the last one. For some reason this one was more visual for me, and since I am a visual learner it was easy for me to set up some flags to assist when I am starting to veer off course with my well-being journey. Because of this exercise, whenever I see Red, it can assist in helping me get better grounded. Orange, questions my lack of confidence. Yellow, shows me the direction of love. Emerald Green, allows me to share positive feeling with people I love, Aqua blue, helps to find my purpose, Indigo Blue, helps to to achieve balance.
I have another trick that I use to keep me on the right path to my own well-being. Double digits brings me back to Gratefulness. I have been using the digital clock, calendar dates, license plates, radio stations, anywhere I can see two of the same number side by side (examples: 11:11 PM, 3:22 AM, 2/22, 1/11/11, etc.). Whenever I see these numbers, I quietly shout our my gratefulness for something. I am always amazed at how God puts these numbers in front of me to keep me grounded. I remember last year staying awake until 11:11PM on 11/11/11 in order to "Give Thanks" for the many blessing I receive every day! Do any of you have a unique way to keep you focused on your goals? I would love to hear them.
As for me, My plan of action is to keep some colorful sticky notes place strategically in my world, in order to keep me focused on the prize. I will also eat right, and exercise 6 out of the 7 days a week in order to keep my body healthy enough to keep up with my every changing (for the better) mind!

Hi Deb, I really enjoyed reading your blog. I am going to try your idea with giving thanks when I see double dights...that is a really good idea! I already do this with 11:11 and 2:22 but never thought to incorporate other numbers...great idea! I am a health nut so I like how you are wanting to incorporate more exercise and a better diet in your life...it has really helped not only my body but my daily moods.
ReplyDeleteDeb, your idea is great. I never thought about different colors sparking soemthing within myself, but I bet that most people react to different colors differently. I am going to make it a point to assign colors to my different thoughts, feelings, and goals. I think this will be a fun exercise for me to test. Thank you for the brilliant idea. I suppose numbers could be used also, but I really like the colors better.

I really love how you broke the color system down to help you remember and to put it in terms that would enhance understanding. I am visual too, so without the visual I had a more difficult time truly visualizing the colors. For the most part I repeated the statements which did help me relax. Beforehand my whole body was tight, now not as much. Thank you for the visualization. I hope I can utilize it if you wouldn't mind.
ReplyDeleteThe colors represent to me the chakras which relate to our whole being and life. We used to meditate before each massage class and cleanse the chakras using the colors as well as the parts of life it would represent. It was a very powerful and strange feeling the first few times we did it. It is still powerful for me, but very comforting now.
ReplyDeleteWhat caught my attention to read your post was the 11:11. It is funny you should mention this because I used to dream it, see it every time I looked at the clock or just plain see it everywhere. It “haunted” me so to speak and then I realized that every day I would see it, something would happen. It would either be my warning for the day that something will happen and I need to be more alert. Or something great would occur in my life. It became a big part of my life so I had it tattooed on my hand along with a lucky clover. Talk about a coincidence for you to mention this. (LOL).
Could you explain your sticky note strategy a bit more? I don’t understand what you do with them or what the prize is in the end. This may be a great thing to use with clients so it would be great if you could explain how it works. Thanks.
In order to explain the sticky notes, you would need to start early in the morning, and get in touch with your feelings and your plans for the day.
DeleteAs an example: I am going to have a very hectic day ahead of me. I grab a sticky note that is either indigo blue or I use a marker of that color and write the word "Balance" on maybe 3 or 4 post-it notes. I keep one in the car, one on the refrigerator, one at my desk and one in my pocket. As far as the one for the pocket (I actually took some samll white stones) and wrote the words associated with the color on the stone (going green)! These reminders work two ways. They allow me that I need to be more aware of balance that day. Or, in many cases, it brings balance to me just because I put it out there!
All I can say is...that it works for me!
Today is an ORANGE day for me. I need to drive to a unfamiliar destination. SO I need to find confidence in myself that I am more than capable of getting there!I have my rock in my pocket!
As far as the prize....That one is easy. A greater prepared day!
Thanks for the response!
Deb
I love the "being grateful with double digits" idea! What a great way to enjoy the double digits and have a quick reminder on things to be grateful for. It's hard to stay depressed or angry when there are so many great things to list in our thankful column! Oprah had her gratitude journal and you have your system. I say whatever works for the individual is the right way for them! If more people in our society concentrated on what they were grateful for instead of what they were not grateful for, it would be a whole different world!
ReplyDeleteGreat post!
